Impact of COVID-19 on Sanitaryware and Bathware manufacturing and retail industry

-

The impact of the coronavirus pandemic in India has been largely disruptive. As the situation surrounding Coronavirus continues to develop, it is bringing an impact on different industries. As a result, India adopted ‘lockdown’ as a solution to ‘flatten the curve’ of the virus that brought almost all the economic activities at a standstill. Several industries got affected due to the shrinking global economy but not equally.

Many Industries have either temporarily suspended or significantly reduced their operations. This pandemic has also affected the growing startups because of a shortage of funding.  Aviation and Tourism are the most impacted sectors whereas, the education sector has advanced to an entirely new digitalized way of learning during this pandemic. Amidst the fright of corona pandemic and subsequent country-wide lockdown, manufacturers and retailers are also trying to cope up with the situation.

As a result of the global pandemic, Sanitaryware Market is expected to witness slow growth for the year 2020. The ceramic sanitary ware market had limited growth and development in the past also. The complete lockdown in India has overburdened the expenses. With the outspreading of coronavirus, the government has taken multiple initiatives to spread awareness about hygiene and proper sanitation. The everyday demand for Sanitaryware is expected to increase and will grow in the upcoming years due to the rising public awareness.

The health and safety concern due to COVID 19 has given a boost to Touchless Technology. According to a survey, people touch their faces more than 20 times an hour on average. Approximately 44% of the time, it includes contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth. Our hands touch too many surfaces contaminated with microorganisms that can get into our bodies through eyes, nose and mouth- also known as the passage to the throat and lungs.

Thus, adapting Touchless technology is the need of the hour.

Therefore, Sanitaryware and Bathware manufacturers are bringing new and innovative products to curb the virus and to provide hygienic Touchless Solutions.

The pandemic has also marked a return of interest towards Made in India products. People are promoting Indian brands and local manufacturers and retailers in regards to making India as a self-reliant nation.

Also, Vocal for Local not only emphasizes on to use domestically made products but also to promote them. Our honourable Prime Minister has also urged the people to come forward in creating a self-reliant (Aatma Nirbhar) nation by supporting local businesses. Buying Indian products will give the required boost to the Indian economy and will improve the state of impacted Industries. Along with this, Vocal for Local initiative will also improve the situation of Sanitaryware and Bathware companies based out in India.
